- American Roulette is probably the most famous of all the world's casino games.
This fast, exciting game first gained popularity on the colourful riverboats of the Mississippi over 100 years before James Bond placed his chips on the table in the movie 'Casino Royal'.
- Baccarat is a traditional French card game that dates back to the end of the 15th Century.
Christchurch Casino offers both Mini and Midi Baccarat for your gaming pleasure.
- Blackjack is the most popular game in casinos around the world because of its simplicity, its sociable atmosphere and its challenge. Similar to the family game Pontoon, players tend to take the game at their own pace and chat with fellow players and the dealer.
Blackjack is played with six to eight packs of playing cards. The object of the game is to beat the dealer's total by drawing cards that equal 21 or are as close to 21 as possible without exceeding it.
Players commence the game by placing a wager in one of the betting areas marked on the Blackjack table. These are generally referred to as 'Boxes'.
The dealer deals one card face up to each box containing a wager and deals a card to him/herself. A second card is then dealt to each of the boxes. Players now have the option of drawing another card, doubling, splitting or standing.
Jack, Queen and King count as 10. Aces count as either 1 or 11. Other cards have their face value. If you receive an Ace and a 10 count card as your first two cards dealt, you have Blackjack and you will be paid 3 to 2. If the dealer has Blackjack as well, it is then a stand-off and you neither win nor lose.
-
Caribbean Stud Poker, a variation of the traditional American Five-Card Stud Poker, is a very simple game to learn and play. Players bet against the house instead of each other.
To receive your cards you must make an opening bet called an 'Ante'.
If you think you have a hand that will beat the dealer's, you make another bet, which must be exactly double your original Ante. If you do not think you can beat the dealer's hand, you must fold and forfeit your Ante. The dealer, to continue playing, must have an Ace and King or better.
If the dealer does not have at least an Ace and King, all players are paid even money, that is, the same amount as their original Ante. When the dealer's hand is an Ace and King or better, you must have a better hand to win.

Anyone can enjoy playing Poker and now Christchurch Casino gives you the opportunity to play in a professional environment. With several games and limits to choose from there is something for everybody. Poker is open from 8pm to 6am Thursday through to Sunday.
Play Draw Poker, Stud Poker, Manilla, Hold Em and Omaha. To enter our beginners table please notify the Poker supervisor who will advise you of the next available table.
The aim of the game is for one player, using their best five card poker hand, to beat the other players and to win the combined wagers or pot. This is achieved by either showing the highest ranking hand at showdown or showing superior playing strategy (bluffing).
Remember, in all Poker games except Manila, the Ace may be high or low for the purpose of forming a straight. i.e. it can be the highest and lowest card in the deck.
One hand of Poker consists of an initial deal and/or community cards, card draws and a number of betting rounds. The number of rounds depends on the type of game. Players bet against each other's hands.
A player may choose to withdraw from any round of play in Poker. When that happens it is known as 'folding'. If you don't think your cards are good enough you may fold. By doing so you need not contribute further to the pot but instead forfeit all claim to the pot.

Tai Sai is a feature game at Christchurch Casino.
Originating from an ancient Chinese game, Tai Sai was popular with the mysterious Imperial City. Emperors & Empresses would play Tai Sai and entertain their royal guests for days on end.
The dealer tumbles the dice which are in a covered dome. Players place their bets on what they think will show face up on each of the dice and/or the combinations when they come to rest.
- And of course we have an extensive offering of slot machines, Keno and other games of chance for you to play!
